Ministry in Pachuca, Mexico

After language school in Guadalajara, I will be joining a team (Greg and Vicki Syverson) already in place in the impoverishedcommunity of Cubitos and La Raza in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico since 2002. Their primary ministry focus has been reaching out into the community through a community outreach center (called CLAVE) and working with a cell church in Pachuca. On May 3rd, 2009 they (along with a team of Mexican nationals) launched  ”New Life Christian Church” that  also meets in the CLAVE building.

My primary focus will be implementing CHE (see CHE page) in the community of Cubitos and La Raza and then in the indigenous villages from which many people in that community come.   God has given us the vision of strong healthy communities for Him using CHE to help meet the many needs in these communities, such as: illiteracy, unemployment, drug/alcohol abuse, teen pregnancy, gangs and crime, many health/hygiene issues, but especially introduce them to the love of Christ and what He has provided for them.

There is also the need for dental, STD, diabetes and blood pressure clinics that provide prevention education along with treatment, using volunteer personnel.  That would be a great area for short term visits.

Above all, I see God calling me to go and love the people of Cubitos and La Raza as He loves them.

He gave justice and help to the poor and needy, and everything went well for him.  Isn’t that what it means to know me?”says the Lord.  Jeremiah 22:16 (NLT)

If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.  I Corinthians 13:3
